Paul Sanchez Jr

Paul Sanchez has been writing music since age nine and has always had a love for anything “musical.” Paul plays the guitar, piano, and organ and also composes and writes arrangements for those instruments.  He also write songs for several recording artists and some of them will be featured their upcoming CD releases. Paul has acted in several plays and movies, ranging from being Turkey Lurkey in Chicken Little when he was seven all the way to being in a major motion picture in 2004. He has been singing for twenty-five years in musicals and has directed a couple of musicals.  He was a full time Chorister with the Houston Grand Opera (HGO), a member of the exclusive Fat Guy Chorus within HGO, and a member of the Houston Grand Opera Guild and HGO Vivace. He is also a member of the Austin Theater of Theaters (ACOT) and the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA).  He is now pursuing vocal training and doing freelance work as an Opera performer for various functions around Texas.  He is a featured vocalist for Riverbend Church and has achievements beyond his years in Opera.  Paul is a special artist because beyond his tremendous Opera talent, he can sing all genres of music and that makes him a rarity in the music industry.  He is a singer/songwriter/composer as well, as well as, a talented vocal and breathing coach.

Courtney Sanchez has performed alongside some of Austin's best and most famous live music musicians - Brannen Temple, Guy Forsyth, Patrice Pike, Malford Milligan, and more.  Over the last 15 years, she has been performing with the cover band, The Atlantics.  As their lead female singer, she has performed in over 1,000 weddings, won the best cover band award in 1998 and 1999, has been nominated every year since by the famed Austin Chronicle Austin Music Awards.  In December 2006, The Atlantics was named the best wedding band in Texas by Modern Bride Magazine.  She has been the voice of many jingles, voiceovers, and commercials.  She has been a featured performer several local Austin events like the Riverbend 2008 Worship Conference, Spirit Groove, as well as a featured Spirit Groove performer at the 2nd Annual Urban Music Festival.  She was also the runner up in the Ignition 2007 Music Festival.  In 2007, she has found "home" in Jazz music and has begun singing with her quintet at private events around Austin, performing hits from Ella Fitzgerald to Chaka Khan to Jill Scott.  She sings with her duet partner, Thomas Hughes, at various events around town.  She sings with the 18 piece Monster Big Band as their lead vocalist and is also one of the founding members of the Amazing Grace Gospel Group, seen performing in 2009 with the Biscuit Brothers at the Long Center in the Texas Christmas Carol.  She has sung for several high profile wedding ceremonies and funerals as a soloist and in duet with her husband, Paul.  Having been compared to Sarah Vaughn, in grace and voice, she is a premiere vocalist!

John has lived in Austin, Texas since 1971 and is a product of the Austin Independent School District having gone to Andrews Elementary, Pearce Jr. High School and Reagan High School. He attended The University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of The University of Texas Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band while studying flute under Prof. Karl F. Kraber in the School of Music.

Since 1992, John has worked extensively as a flute instructor, performer and clinician to students in music programs throughout the greater Austin and surrounding areas. He has facilitated leadership enrichment workshops relevant to band programs in the Austin, Pflugerville and Victoria Independent School Districts drawing from experiences as the first and only African American Drum Major of the University of Texas Longhorn Band. He is co-founder of the Austin Summer Flute Camp and is a member of the Austin Flute Club. John has actively served in the community as a board member for Reading is FUNdamental, the KLRU Community Advisory Board and The University of Texas Longhorn Alumni Band. John is the current Board Chair for the Leadership Enrichment Arts Program (LEAP – www.leapaustin.org) helping to mentor and inspire minority and under served youth in Central Texas through the arts.

John partnered with Dr. Maimy Fong in 2006 to establish Fleming & Fong – Music for All Occasions (www.flemingandfong.com) and continues to collaborate with other musicians and artists throughout the greater Austin community. John currently sings with the Celebration Singers as a member of Unity Church of Hills with recent appearances with Chorus Austin Vocal Consort and orchestra, The Austin Children’s Choir, St. Edward’s Masterwork’s Project and St. Theresa’s Catholic Church production of Amahl and the Night Visitors. John is extremely blessed, grateful and thankful for the opportunity to share in the wonderful music and life journeys of Hedda Layne and Troy Warden (www.heddalayne.com).
